I’m learning a new tune everyday. Today I took a risk and learned one from an album of one of my favorite fiddlers/violinists EVER: Eddy Marcano. Eddy is a master violinist from Venezuela, and plays a lot of traditional Venezuelan music with his Trio Acustico. They came and stayed at my university for a few days while I was studying the violin. Our orchestra got to perform “Pajarillo” with them. Their music is wonderful: complex polyrhythmic changes and super cool improvisations. I love it. So… today I picked out one of my favorite of his pieces and learned it. It’s called “Vals Corso,” or Corsican Waltz. It’s attributed to Rafael Valle Calle on their album, but other sources say it might be René ValleCalle, or maybe even just a traditional melody.
