Biography

PATJE takes his inspiration daily from images in his mind. Influenced by the growth of singer songwriters from all kinds of genre, he builds his own style from soul, funk and Brazilian rhythms.

He was raised between Marseille, Barcelona and Geneva. His very first experience in entertainment was theater thanks to his brother.

After his high school diploma he did his Bachelors in America to improve his language skills. At that time his friends gave him the nickname PATJE (little Pat).

Returning back to Europe, he worked in advertising and became the editor of a magazine. When he left this multinational firm and moved to Barcelona, Spain, in order to study at university, music and his love for entertainment came back into his life...

He decided to pursue this growing passion in Los Angeles. He discovered facets of himself and started growing and gathering popularity in this environment.

In 2002 he started playing with his band in many clubs around Los Angeles and released his first single. On stage he started singing in French, English and Spanish.

He began a new journey with his friend Ioannis; with him he played between Bora Bora and Paris. It was with Ioannis that he was the opening act for Jeanne Mas. This show took place at the Trianon in Paris.

2008 enabled him to prepare a new project. Today he is launching Pasaporte, his new album; available Autumn 2009.

Ecos de borinquen perform \

To purchase more music from Puerto Rico, please visit: tinyurl.com Traditional Puerto Rican jíbaro music is often improvised, sung poetry. At the core of the traditional song repertoire are the seis (in which the song form is based on six lines) and the aguinaldo (which is based on a decimal, or ten-line stanza). The aguinaldo is well-suited for detailed lyrical narratives of Puerto Rican history and culture and Biblical stories. Here Miquel Santiago-Diaz, founder of Ecos de Borinquen and one-time Puerto Rican national trovador (troubadour, or singer of seis and aguinaldo) demonstrates the aguinaldo style from the town of Orocovis with “Mujer Borinqueña,” a song extolling the virtues of a Puerto Rican woman. Jackito – lanmou doudou (twoubadou)

icon2 Filed under: Haitian music | icon2 No Comments »

Jackito - lanmou doudou (twoubadou)

Twoubadou music is a very popular form of guitar-based Haitian music which was brought back by Haitian migrant laborers who went to work on Cuban sugar plantations at the turn of the century. True to the original Spanish troubadours, the music and its lyrics usually conjured up images of true love and lasting relationships. Although more popular during times past, today it is sometimes considered passé or only for the old folks. Although more recently, it has begun being eclipsed by more popular forms of Rasin and Konpa music, it is making a comeback even among groups like Mizik Mizik (”Blakawout’) who are popular among the younger crowds….
