Bmi women latin music

MLV kicked off the 2009 Latin Alternative Music Conference with bmi's Women in Latin Music @ sob's in New York City. The diverse line-up of women artists included Afrobeta's Cristina and Tony (the sole, brave guy in the showcase), singer songwriters Alih Jey, beaba, and Cristal Marie, Funk-fusionist Eljuri, the Bachateras of Girlz Talk, and Mexican hip-hop star Nina Dioz (not shown here). In celebration of women artists, we asked each act to fill us in on the women who've influenced their own music. Their answers ranged from European songstress Laura Pausini to Bjork and Fiona Apple. But one name stood out as three of the above artists referenced her work. That was none other than Gloria Estefan who continues to reign as the leading woman pioneer in Latin Music.
