Ucla launches online archive of mexican, chicano music

The Arhoolie Foundation in El Cerrito, Calif., has an archive that includes more than 30000 78 rpm recordings of Mexican and Mexican American music and other performances. With the help of the Los Tigres del Norte Fund at UCLA and the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center, those 78s, and a number of the Arhoolie Foundation’s 45 rpm recordings, have been digitized as part of the online Strachwitz Frontera Collection of Mexican and Mexican American Music at UCLA.
